Improving your teaching with Lesson Planning

Hello Again,

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

First of all, I am very thankful to Mr. Sean Sir for making the assignments clear with all instructions needed. But it was bit difficult for me in the beginning to understand what those things I supposed to do are. When I read three different post on NiceNet about week 4 I could figure out the assignment which I had to do. But it was not easy to do as you have to go through big process of reading, writing and understanding the things.
This week's topics were lesson planning, ABCD objectives, Reading Articles, sharing the issue of the classroom etc.

Lesson planning is something which is important for any teacher as it is needed to understand four basic things:-

1.     Whom I am teaching?
2.     What I am teaching?
3.     How will I teach?
4.     How will I know if students understand?

We have learned how lesson plan can be formed and used for classroom where technology is being implemented.

I have also read some of the articles where I have learned how to use the Internet in the classroom to enhance learning and achieve some teaching goals. It was all about getting to your class connected.

As per the assignment mentioned we were supposed to present one problem about our students which can be aided using technology as a motivation. I am seeking for better solution as a teacher for my students in coming weeks. I have stated the problem I am facing but not sure with the solution using technology.

I have searched new website that can be used for enhancing English Language. Reading new sources here with different uses and need is something useful for me as a teacher.

It is great to learn something new every week here.

Thanking You

    Dear Kamlesh,

It is always nice to visit your blog and read the thoughts you have to share with us. :)

I must tell you that I do like the first picture you have chosen with all those important questions every teacher must raise when creating his/her lesson plan. In addittion to this, I think that a technology-enhanced lesson plan needs an even more precise planning, since we need to think of the tech-tools as our aid rather than some exciting thing to attract the students' attention.

I have noticed that you are still thinking over the problems you will deal with when implementing the project. I am sure all of us haven't decided yet what exactly we are going to address when creating a technology based project, especially when thinking of the web tools themselves. You know Kamlesh, I think we will still learn a lot in the coming weeks and this will also help us to decide over the tool which would most effectively help us to overcome the problem described in the task of Week 4. :)

    Best wishes,

    Jurga.

    Hello, Kamlesh.

I agree with your point of view. Those four basic aspects you mention helps us lots to identify our audience and define what we expect from them, but they also guide us to make better decisions when something doesn't work. Bearing those aspects in mind are indeed useful whenever we're planning a lesson or a single activity. You're right, we're learning something new every week!

The fact that you feel you haven't been able to pinpoint exactly what solution you'd like to explore in your project (if I understood correctly) speaks volumes of your interest in your students. Questioning whether something might work, instead of assuming it has to work, is a good sign, in my opinion. We simply cannot know whether something (technology-wise, in our case) will definitely help us to improve our students' performance or if that same solution will always work no matter who our students are. Therefore, bearing in mind those four basic aspects, I'm sure you'll be able to find a suitable solution for something specific to write about in your project, and that same solution will eventually be adapted or enhanced to work with a different group. It does involve a lot of work, but I find it very rewarding!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Lupita.
